Over a period of twenty years I have spanned the academic and practitioner worlds, focusing on strategy, marketing and organisational behaviour. This experience has been gained through association with leading universities or as an independent consultant to large and mostly global organisations.

During this time I have specialised in guiding executives on a broad range of strategic management challenges, especially issues relating to the actual design and implementation of strategies.

Much of the international work has involved the delivery of management development programmes and the facilitation of strategic marketing and management development workshops.

Based on the experience I have gained during this period I have developed the following skills:

• Deep knowledge of the importance of a sharp customer focus for the successful execution of strategy and the ability to deliver this through customer relationship management processes;
• Leadership skills for managing complex scenarios and teams, for example, faculty members and senior executives;
• From my consultancy experience, a capability to quickly adapt to new situations and diverse circumstances;
• Ability to be a team player where required, a team leader where necessary;
• Marketing and sales competencies, embracing both internal and external constituencies;
• An ability to determine which strategy frameworks and processes readily ‘cross-over’ between the public and private sectors;
• An ability to provide knowledge and thought leadership based upon research output in a number of management fields, including strategic marketing, leadership, strategic management, customer relationship management, international business, global business strategies and more;
• Talent management skills, both in a leadership and advisory capacity.

An area of key interest for me is the complexity and excitement of emerging markets and approximately a third of my time has been spent in Asia.
