Since joining academia in 1988 my focus has been on what can be described as 'post-experience education', exclusively teaching Masters students (MBA, MSc) and senior executives from a cross-section of organisations. This management development and education has been delivered at top international universities and in the 'in-house' executive and professional development programmes of leading corporations.

I have also developed a strategy and marketing consultancy practice, working with large organisations in a broad cross section of activies, including strategy workshops, think-tanks, strategy coaching and leadership skills development.

The challenge in developing this site has been to cover parallel experiences (academic and corporate) within one domain. The option of different sites for each category was, of course, available. However, there is far too much 'crossover' between the two sectors and separating them would compromise the philosophy of praxis, the alignment of theory and practice which I espouse.

The versatile nature of the internet has facilitated the ability to combine the academic and corporate experiences. Broadly, the first two tabs present the academic components of my career to date while the latter two focus upon the corporate experiences I have gained.

Over these years I have, on occasion, taken temporary leave of absence from my university appointments to undertake the corporate engagements described in the 'Major Projects' tab of this site. My goal in doing so has always been motivated by the potential to grasp the opportunity to comprehend and apply marketing and strategic management principles in a 'real-world' global market context.

The 'banner' quote from Karl Marx is not a political or even an economic statement; rather, it reflects a desire for positive change and, more specifically, that there need be no disconnect between theory and practice: one begets the other and positive transformation is indeed achievable.
